About David

A native New Yorker expatriated to Chicago, David King is a longtime writer who loves telling people’s stories. Having lived in the U.S., France, and Belgium, he has published in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago magazine, the Chicago Reader, the Philadelphia Inquirer and other publications in the United States and abroad.

David holds a bachelor’s in the humanities from Swarthmore College and a master’s in the social sciences from the University of Chicago, as well as a certificate in mediation from the Center for Conflict Resolution in Chicago. His interests range from empathetic listening to geeking out about public transit, and he will always insist that the best bagels and cheesecake are in New York.

A keen observer, David takes joy in introducing readers to people, stories and ideas they otherwise never would have known.
